The only thing is that in your answer to b, "coercion would be happened" is not correct. You could say "coercion is required" or "coercion would be needed". /0
RE: گرامر، لغت شناسی، درک مطلب، نگارش (خلاصه کردن و ...) زبان انگلیسی با استفاده از مثال - shahraam - 25-07-2016 This one is from the book Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. I have attached the text and questions in PDF format too./0
My father’s family name being Pirrip, and my Christian name Philip, my infant tongue could make of both names nothing longer or more explicit than Pip. So, I called myself Pip, and came to be called Pip./0 …/00 As I never saw my father or my mother, and never saw any likeness of either of them (for their days were long before the days of photographs), my first fancies regarding what they were like were unreasonably derived from their tombstones. The shape of the letters on my father’s, gave me an odd idea that he was a square, stout, dark man, with curly black hair. From the character and turn of the inscription, “Also Georgiana Wife of the Above,” I drew a childish conclusion that my mother was freckled and sickly. To five little stone lozenges, each about a foot and a half long, which were arranged in a neat row beside their grave, and were sacred to the memory of five little brothers of mine,—who gave up trying to get a living, exceedingly early in that universal struggle,—I am indebted for a belief I religiously entertained that they had all been born on their backs with their hands in their trousers pockets, and had never taken them out in this state of existence./1 a.Has Pip ever seen his mom’s picture?/2 b.How tall were Pip’s brothers when they passed away?/3 c. How did Pip come up with the idea that his father was strong?/4 c.Can Pip say with certainty that his mom was freckled?/5 d. Write a summary of the passage./6 RE: گرامر، لغت شناسی، درک مطلب، نگارش (خلاصه کردن و ...) زبان انگلیسی با استفاده از مثال - shahraam - 27-07-2016 There is a small error in the PDF file attached to the previous post. Choice a should be "Has Pip ever seen..." /0
RE: گرامر، لغت شناسی، درک مطلب، نگارش (خلاصه کردن و ...) زبان انگلیسی با استفاده از مثال - shahraam - 28-07-2016 I was browsing through other topics in the forum when I came across this post. It is a TOEFL essay which was posted a while ago by user TOEFLL110 in here./0
Although it was posted a long time ago and the poster might not need what he or she asked then, it is still a good exercise. Can you make this essay more readable and more coherent?/0
Here it is
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
It is more important to keep your old friends than it is to make new friends. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. Some people prefer to keep their old friends others are inclined towards making new friends. As far as I am concerned, I agree that trying to remain old friends is a high priority/ has priority over to make new ones. In that, not only does a long-standing friendship supply a secure space to have enjoyable moments beside friends, but also it allows friends to be close intimately in order to help each other under difficult circumstances. My arguments for this point are listed as follows. One of the primary causes is that having old friends creates a friendly atmosphere. So that friends change their mood and feel relaxed. For instance, when a person has a lifelong friendship with his friends, he has a lot in common with them. So they can spend much of their leisure time with each other such as to go a cinema, take a trip, play a game etc. Furthermore, existence of great similarity among them can be constructive to understand and influence each other in a good way. But there is an additional subtle point we must consider. Old friends can trust each other greatly in order to solve a dilemma which one of them faces. To illustrate, imagine one of them is stressful and coward as he applies for a job. It causes him to fail in that job interview. In this situation, other friends can guide him properly and give some solutions to resolve his issue. In a word, an old friend laughs at your jokes when he is not so good, and sympathizes with your problems when he is not so bad RE: گرامر، لغت شناسی، درک مطلب، نگارش (خلاصه کردن و ...) زبان انگلیسی با استفاده از مثال - siminbaraneh - 29-07-2016 a. based on to the story he has not ever seen the photo of them and only by seeing the tombstone of them he imagine she was freckled and sickly
b. I supposed according to their tombstones they were about a foot and half long
c. I assume his fancies was from the shape of their tombstones and according to the letters of on his father grave he imagine he was strong
d. As we understand from the story he only imagine and drew a childish fancy that his mother was freckled
brief
The story illustrate a person that his name was pirrip Philip but because of currency and habit from his childhood tongue he called pip he had never seen his parents and any picture of them .he only imagine them from the shape of their tombstones. he supposed that his father was square and stout with curly black hair and her mother was freckled and sickly . and by 5 little stones he imagine his 5 little brothers that died

At last, after repeated invitations, Polixenes came from Bohemia to the Sicilian court to pay his friend Leontes a visit. At first this visit gave nothing but pleasure to Leontes. He begged the queen to show special care and attention to his dear friend and he seemed to have found perfect happiness now that he was with his old companion. RE: گرامر، لغت شناسی، درک مطلب، نگارش (خلاصه کردن و ...) زبان انگلیسی با استفاده از مثال - shahraam - 03-08-2016 We've had four reading comprehension exercises so far. I'd like to ask Matin and Simin who provided answers to those exercises to let us know which words, if any, they needed to look up in a dictionary. Thanks /0
