International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS)
If you are an international student commencing a higher degree by research (masters or PhD) at RMIT in 2013, the Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarship could pay your tuition fees for the normal duration of your program.
Value and duration
The scholarship provides tuition fees and the cost of an Overseas Student Health Cover policy for the duration of your program. (This is normally three years for a research doctorate degree and two years for a research masters degree.)

If you have received a firm offer or a conditional offer that does not stipulate the English pre-requisite you do not have to provide an IELTS or TOEFL test
Please make sure you submit all the necessary documentation before the closing date. You may wish to include extra documents to support your application.
We cannot return your documents or portfolio items to you.

Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship you must:
- be a citizen of any overseas country except New Zealand
- be an overseas student as defined in the Act
- meet the Department of Immigration and Citizenship’s international student visa requirements - this includes purchasing and maintaining a standard Overseas Student Health Cover policy approved by the Commonwealth Government of Health and Ageing
- be commencing full-time enrolment in a higher degree by research (HDR) program in 2013 at an Australian RMIT campus
- have been offered a place in an HDR program at RMIT University to commence in Semester 1 or Semester 2, 2013
- have been offered a place that is not conditional on meeting English language requirements
- provide evidence of English language proficiency and meet the English language requirement of the HDR program before the closing date
- be studying in one of RMIT’s areas of research specialisation
- not already hold a research qualification equivalent to an Australian research doctorate or, if you are doing a research masters, not have a qualification equivalent to that
- not have held an Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) scholarship in the two years before taking up the Endeavour IPRS
- not be receiving a scholarship for which course tuition is a component under any other scholarship scheme to which the Australian Government makes a substantial contribution
- not have previously received an Endeavour IPRS for a research doctorate unless you are converting to a research masters degree under paragraph 3.25.15 of these Guidelines
- not have previously received an Endeavour IPRS for a research masters degree, unless you have completed your masters and are immediately undertaking a research doctorate degree or you have converted your Endeavour IPRS under paragraph 3.25.15 of these guidelines.
- you commenced your HDR program in Semester 1 or 2 2012 but applied for the program after the 2012 Endeavour IPRS closing date (28/10/2011)
- you are a non-RMIT student who commenced an HDR program at another eligible institution but terminated your enrolment within six months of starting
- you are applying for or have received external funding for your living expenses.
We will email you by the end of December 2012 to confirm whether you have been awarded a scholarship.
How to apply
When applications are open, complete the online application form and upload your supporting documents.
Please include the following documents with your application:
- a copy of your offer letter from RMIT University
- official certified copies of all academic transcripts, including a university explanation of the grading system. Please send copies in English and the original language (where applicable)
- a certified copy of graduation certificate
- evidence of English language proficiency
- your research proposal outlining the objective, methodology and expected outcomes (no less than 200 words)
- a statement indicating why you wish to undertake this research
- your resume (Curriculum Vitae)
- evidence of your employment history on a company letterhead (if applicable)
- a copy of any relevant publications, unpublished thesis or essays you have completed (if applicable)
- a letter from any scholarship provider (if applicable)
- two Academic Referee Reports.
- a portfolio of 12 slides or a CD Rom including annotation introducing the work
- supplementary forms relevant to the Art and Design related program. The form can be printed out at RMIT International’s Supplementary forms web page.

- not defer your studies to another year
- apply again the following year if you are unable to take up your award.
