Dear Colleague,
We would like to invite you to submit a paper to the 8th Loughborough Antennas &
Propagation Conference (LAPC 2012). This year’s conference will be held on the
12th – 13th November at the Burleigh Court International Conference Centre at
Loughborough University, UK. Here are some key facts about LAPC 2012:
* LAPC is the largest annual UK conference dedicated to the fields of antennas
and propagation
* This year we hope to attract 250 participants and 20 exhibiting companies.
* LAPC 2012 is technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Antennas and Propagation
Society (APS), IEEE Region 8 and The Institution of Engineering and Technology
(IET).
* All accepted papers with an attending author will be included in IEEE Xplore®
and listed on the SCOPUS database, subject to meeting all IEEE quality
requirements.
* Registration fees for students are reduced from 2011 whilst IEEE/IET and
Standard registration fees are held at 2011 prices. Full two-day registration
packages, including accommodation at the venue, start from just £265.
* LAPC follows a format of invited guest speakers and technical poster
presentations.
This year’s special sessions for invited guest speakers are on:
1. New and emerging technologies for antennas (including nano and portable
antennas, new materials).
2. Radio propagation and sensor networks (including body networks).
3. Latest developments in measurements and simulation (for both antenna and
propagation).
4. Energy, antennas and propagation (including wireless power transmission and
energy harvesting).
We are pleased to announce the following invited guest speakers:
* Professor Max Ammann, Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland
"Circularly polarized terminal antennas for emerging wireless systems"
* Associate Professor Filiberto Bilotti, University of Roma Tre, Italy
"Extracting power from sub-wavelength apertures by using electrically small
resonators: phenomenology, modelling, and applications"
* Dr Kevin Boyle, EPCOS
"Antenna tuning for mobile devices: the state of the art and some glimpses of
the future"
* Professor Tony Brown, The University of Manchester, UK
"Novel broadband antenna arrays"
* Professor Ovidio Mario Bucci, Università Federico II di Napoli, Italy
"Sparse active array for satellite communications"
* Professor Jan Carlsson, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden
"Diversity gains in random line-of-sight and rich isotropic multipath
environment"
* Professor Leo Kempel, Michigan State University, USA
"New measurement methods for antenna materials"
* Professor Richard Langley, The University of Sheffield, UK
"Elastic antennas"
* Professor Joshua Le-Wei Li, University of Electronic Science and Technology of
China
"Metamaterial antennas and arrays of broad bandwidth and high gain"
* Dr Marta Martínez Vázquez, IMST GmbH, Germany
"VISTA: Overview of the latest COST action on antennas"
* Professor Raj Mittra, The Pennsylvania State University, USA
"Superlenses, Cloaks and Transformation Electromagnetics--Myths, mysteries and
practical realities"
* Assistant Professor Julien Perruisseau-Carrier, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale
de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland
"Graphene for antenna applications: opportunities and challenges from
microwaves to THz"
* Professor Simon Saunders, Real Wireless Ltd, UK
"Research challenges and needs in small cell and in-building mobile
propagation"
* Associate Professor Dr Hubregt Visser, IMEC, Netherlands
"Optimizing RF Energy Transport: Channel Modelling and Transmit Antenna and
Rectenna Design"
