Assistant Professor of Aero Engines, TU Delft, Netherlands
Job description
This is a tenure-track position in the area of aero engines. The activities will include teaching the undergraduate and graduate level courses, supervising MSc and PhD students and contributing to current research projects (partly funded by the European Commission and other agencies). In due course, establishing an independent research programme, drawing up new research projects and developing a close relationship with industry will be encouraged. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and professional experience.
This vacancy, along with the FPP Chair in the faculty, was created as part of a long-term strategy to place increased emphasis on propulsion technology in aeronautics. It offers the dedicated candidate an opportunity to shape the faculty's future by influencing both curriculum development and the establishment of a relevant research infrastructure. A new propulsion laboratory will be created, and the candidate is expected to contribute to this development.
Requirements
The candidate should have a PhD degree from a reputable university in one of the areas of aircraft propulsion, gas turbine combustion, turbo-machinery, aircraft engine integration or propulsion system design and performance. Publications in reputed SCI journals are a pre-requisite. Some relevant post-doctoral experience at a reputable university or institute is an added advantage. The candidate should have a strong commitment to teaching; some teaching experience will be appreciated. He or she should be a team player. Demonstrated ability in written and spoken English is required, as is the willingness to learn Dutch.
