PhD Positions at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Politechnico Di Milano, Italy
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano is currently seeking applicants for PhD positions in the following research areas:
1- Dynamics and Vibration of Mechanical Systems and Vehicles
2- Machine and Vehicle Design
3- Manufacturing and Production Systems
4- Methods and Tools for Product Design
5- Materials
6- Measurements and Experimental Techniques
7- Smart Materials and Structures
Full funded positions (Scholarship, 1.200 Euro/month net amount) benefit from:
-housing financial support (only for top-level foreign students 1.500 euro for the first year only);
-financial aid for study materials and conference fees (600 Euro/year).
Candidates with scholarship receive extra-funding (500 euro/month) for research periods abroad (up to 18 months).
The main target of the Programme is to provide PhD candidates with specific training in Mechanical and Industrial engineering disciplines and to strengthen their research skills in industrial and academic contexts. At the end of the PhD programme our students will be able to carry out innovative projects on product, process and manufacturing systems, by properly taking into account functionality, constructive and energetic issues, while selecting materials, manufacturing processes, configuration and management strategies for manufacturing systems and measurement control services and devices.
The attainment of a PhD in Mechanical Engineering requires at least three-years of full time study, research activity and development of PhD thesis (Doctoral Dissertation).
A minimum of 30 credits from PhD level courses is mandatory. Other foreseen activities include stages, external courses (held by companies or other institutions), national and international seminars, conferences and workshops, participation in national and international research projects, support to teaching activities.
Eligibility requirements: Master of Science (min. 5 years of graduate education); B2 level English knowledge.
Mandatory attachments: CV and research project proposal.
All profiles will be evaluated by an Admission Board, composed by members of the PhD Faculty.
