Two women chased at UCR
Two women were chased by men with unknown intent in two separate incidents at UC Riverside, police officials said.
The first incident happened about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, on Big Springs Road near Lothian Residence Hall. The victim was walking on the pathway from the road to the hall when she noticed a man get out of a car parked on the side of the path, a police news release stated.
He began getting something from his trunk, and the victim continued walking for a short distance. She then looked back to see what the man was doing and was surprised to find him right behind her with a blue, folded-up bandanna in his hands looking as though he were about to put it over her head, the release stated.
The woman threw the drink she was holding at the man and ran. She looked back and saw him getting into the car and driving away.
The second incident happened about 7:30 p.m. that same day at the same location. The victim was walking east on Big Springs Road, where she found a car pulled into a driveway leading to Lothian hall and blocking the sidewalk, a news release stated.
She was walking behind the car when a door on the driver's side swung open and a man jumped out and started chasing her, the release stated.
He got close enough to touch the woman, but she escaped. When she looked back, she saw the man run back to the car and drive west on Big Springs Road.
She then called the campus police department and officers searched the area, but turned up nothing.
The police then issued an alert, and when the first victim saw it, she too contacted the police department.
The suspect in the first incident was described as a white man in his mid-20s with short blonde hair, standing 5-foot-10 with a fit, medium build. He was wearing blue jeans, the release stated.
The second man was described as Asian, 20 to 30 years old, 5-foot-6 with black hair and an oval-shaped face. He was wearing a white T-shirt.
